If you were a fish, and I were a fish, what would we do?
Why, you'd be a salmon and I'd be a shark
When you saw me you would say "Hark"
And scream like a maddened airborne lark,
That's what we'd do!
If you were a bird, and I were a bird, what would we do?
Why, you'd be a swallow and I'd be a hawk,
And when you went bankrupt from sale of stock,
I'd come to your house to jeer and mock,
That's what we'd do!
If you were grown-up, and I were grown-up, what would we do?
Why, you'd be a robber, and I the police
And when you'd have stolen the golden fleece,
I'd ensure that your grave read "rest in peace",
That's what we'd do!
