It is a known fact that gaming is addictive (I think we can all agree on that) but what happens when it gets out of hand? What's going on when you're foaming the mouth and twitching at the sight of an Orc or Mario?
Well...then you're probably screwed...
OR...is it not too late? NO! You go to the doctor's office and go into rehabilitation!
These clinics pop-up all over the world like an awful porn-website and are a succes thus far (there's no long-term research available due the starting date of the program).
The rehab program consists of cognitive therapy and such. A lot of talking and no more GAMING!
The people who live in the fantasy world of gaming like to be more in this world than being in the real world, or: the fantasy becomes their world in some cases. Stress, sudden (emotional) impacts and long lasting burdens like being a child in a broken home, bullied in school and the list goes on...all these factors can cause a person to get addicted to something. Drugs, or alcohol included. So why not videogames?
Not everyone who plays video-games on regular bases, gets addicted (so I told a few words ago: pay attention!). An addiction is created due a hundred reasons and factors. Addiction: compulsive physiological and psychological need for a habit-forming substance.
For the non-understanders: when you are addicted, you can’t think of everything else. You can’t eat, sleep, think clearly if you haven’t had your ‘fix’ for a drug/gaming/alcohol/pink scarves/women clothing/shoes etc. It’s hard to come up with your own meaning when the explanation from the dictionary is pretty obvious Anyways…you can’t live normal everyday life because of an addiction. You can’t go to school/work because of your gaming addiction: and you’ll need help.
But what I wanted to ask you, guys: what do you think about these clinics and what game is so addictive to you?
