Unreal Tournament - Xan

I got to Xan in UT and I can't beat him. He is impossible. He goes for invisibility and shield belts too much. Once you die, it is impossible to recover. Has anyone beat him? If so, HOW?

Oh man, final bosses in UT series. Both in UT and in UT 2004 I'm unable to beat the final boss without cheats, on "normal" difficulty

I'd guess go for the weapon you're most confortable with (flak cannon here) and hunt him at first then if you kill, continue the hunt and if you die take your time getting all buffed up.

Oh yes, the Xan ...
Once I was leading him 14-13 on average and still barely lost, which was years ago, when I played UT way better than now, I'm still yet to beat him
Still I believe it's definitely doable, though not easy, don't be discouraged and keep trying

edit: I just tried it out one more time (okay, twice, first match I lost 15-0, and made a couple of self-kills) and won 15-8 , my "tactics" were to stay at the spawn of the shield-belt (not letting Xan get it) with a flak, buff up on HP and wait for Xan to show up

Stupid Xan, never did beat that guy. As soon is it looks like I was going to win he makes a come back

Yes, I beat him on setting 2. (Used to be hardcore UT player)
You just need to practice a lot. Get more familiar with the flack cannon and the rocket launcher, once you master them, you master Xan.

My problem with the rocket launcher is that it does not find the targets fast enough. I am pretty good with the Flak Cannon, although he dodges every shot then (BAD JOKE WARNING) says "I am the alpha and the omega", which I have no idea what that means unless he is talking about what he eats, such as Omega 3.

Anyways, I AM GETTING SICK OF THAT B****!

Haha, well the trick is with the rocket launcher to load up 2 - 3 rockets and don't want for them to become guided. Instead fire the rockets at an angle near his feet. That usually instantly kills anyone.

I know, but his Flak Cannon instantly kills my guy before I can load even 1 rocket.

I used to 'master' (more or less) the sniper back when I was better at UT, this map doesn't have it though

Yes, but Xan is insanely hard if you use any higher difficulty settings.
