What's better full game or ISO?

Postby nicozsd » Mon Sep 17, 2007 3:03 pm

Well I think it's better full game than ISO because in older computer ISO burners or emulator may not work and therefore the ISO is useless, for modern computers ISO may work but the full game also, sometimes the full game dowsn't have cutscenes and that's no good but let's try to have an ISO and full game for the abandonware games. :)

I say Full Game, becouse I don't have enough score to download Iso's. ;) But it depends on the game exually.

I guess I'm an ISO type of person. For some reason I prefer it that way.

I prefer ISO.

It's nice to have all of the original CD-contents.

But I also like the full-game installationprogram by CGN

ISOs, of course! It's a real nuisance to load up a game and find out that you need a CD! Transport Tycoon Deluxe for Windows is an excellent example of this.

Well, first of all I thought they were both good, UNLESS you are talking about newer games. I'm fine with the both of them, but if they aren't patched, and there's bugs, then ISO would be the way to go. Damn you Command and Conquer.... :finger:

CD ISO because they have no problems (full game CGN installers sometimes have messed up menus. e.g. Motorhead and Mad Trax have messed up menus). CD ISO images also sometimes have the music and cutscenes.

True ISOs always have all the files that are on the original CDs ;) otherwise somebody has "ISOed"
some sort of a rip of that game
(by 'true' I mean the CD images made off the genuine game CDs)

Also, sometimes the rips are not perfect. Sometimes when ripping, it misses the cutscenes and music, which is annoying.

You apparently don't know the difference about either of them. RIPs have cutscenes or music left out for a reason; to cut down the size of the game, this makes them easier and faster to download.

ISOs have all the content and should only be downloaded if you really want the full experience of the game (e.g. nothing is left out), let's admit it, who of our abandonware gamers wouldn't like that? :)

No, I meant when ripping the ISO images. One example would be Motorhead. It doesn't have the music even though it is an ISO.

Hmm right... someone messed up ripping the ISO. Usually you just get a menu from what you want to keep when trying to make an ISO from a CD.

The music was probably included on separate, actual audio track. It can be hard to get those in an ISO.

Usually making it into bin/cue or another format fixes the problem. I think it was Fantasy General or maybe another game that the audio tracks were left out when making ISO but when I made a bin/cue image it was fine
