Heavy Metal
Well, I'm new here, just want to say heavy metal is the best music style I have heard ever. My favourite band is Guns n' roses, but I like also: Iron Maiden, AC/DC...
What do you prefer???

Like you, I like the oldies. You forgot Metallica, though, among others.
New ones I like are Tool and Stratovarius, and Messhuga, but they're hardcore death metal.

Believe it or not, but Tool, Stratovarius and Messhuga are neither hardcore or deathmetal :P
Hardcore:
- Slugger
- Sick of it all
- Blood for blood
Deathmetal:
- Death
- Cannibal corpse
- Dying fetus
Strativarius is powermetal and Tool and Messhuga are somekind of technique showoff... anyway, I don't really like those three, neither do I like most of the bands I just mentioned :P except for Death... I like bands like After Forever, Caliban, Corporation 187, 'l Âme Immortelle, Squarepusher, Amen, Black Sabbath, Sisters of Mercy etc... Not all metal, but I still like them :P
And I also like a lot of old bands of which I don't even know the names... But that doesn't really matter to me.

BYOB is their best song, hands down. Deer Dance, Chop Suey, and Mr. Jack all tie for second.

There is this one song I quite like from their last album, but I forgot the title... It's got this pretty fast double bass in it...

Spineshank is pretty good too, for Nu-Metal, anyways.
Also, any of you guys heard of Nightwish? They're pretty good, kinda goth metal (Think Evanescence).
Static-X has a neat sound as well, I'd suggest them.
Oh, and I'd better mention Ministry too, because I don't think anyone else is going too.

I don't really like Nightwish, they're good to listen to every once in a while, but the vocals get to monotoneous (sic?). I've seen a concert of them once, it was good, but no show at all, just rattling up the songs and then going off stage, barely any interaction with the people at all. IMHO, that can be considered a failed performance...
As for Static-X and Ministry, I completely agree, they both rock :P

Ohhh dear, you can do so much better than Nightwish, when it comes to Goth they are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Say the word young Padawan, and i shall set you up the Goth/Goth-Metal, for great justice!

So... the thread's named "Heavy Metal", huh?
Just to be "on tune" with everybody, I'm not gonna post any heavy metal bands...
Yeah, so, some great bands are (if you're into this kinda' stuff) Arkhon Infaustus, Cadaverous Condition or even Obituary...
And for some REALLY extreme stuff, one could listen to Anaal Nathrakh or Phagocitosys...

Yeah, heavy-metal may officially be music like Iron Maiden and Manowar, but the term is used pretty widespread in here... Black and Deathmetal bands or even Grindcore bands can be counted in as well :P
