When you start Heroes of Might and Magic it shows a message 'Unable to access CD-Drive'.
Solution:
First of all you need a CD-Rom drive it doesn't matter if there is a CD in it or not, this solves this problem in Windows 9X and XP.
Or run the file 'NOCD.BAT' instead of 'HEROES.EXE' in DOSBox like this:
