Resurrection of Classic Style in Mobile Gaming

Postby TechSe7en » Wed Dec 02, 2009 9:14 pm

Recently, there has been a resurgence of classic gaming. Trends are cyclical and gaming can only go so far before nostalgia asks us to revisit the past. Wether it is porting an old favorite to a new console, such as DOOM for the iPhone, or creating completely unique titles such as Canabalt and Rock Tac Toe in a classic 8-Bit format.

I am sure that this is going on for Nintendo DS, PSP, Android, etc. Do you know of any examples of this trend, or just want to talk about it? Post here!

Yes, I have both Duke Nukem 3D and Doom for my Ipod Touch, although a perfect copy of the original games the controls kind of suck. If you ask me you can't beat the old keyboard and mouse.

I recently played Tetris (part of the PSP minis games) on the PSP and it's interesting to see how some things have become staples of the game, such as "holding" blocks and the TPM meter.
